Sewer Lines

No homeowner wants to wake up to find sewage and black water bubbling up through their basement drains. While this is a sign that your sewer line is clogged and needs attention, there are a number of other indications that your plumbing needs attention and it’s time to call the professionals at Freedom Plumbing!
Signs That Your Sewer Lines are Clogged
While standing water is one sign that your sewer line is clogged, there are a number of other indicators to look for, including:
- Bubbling drains and toilets. If you notice water bubbling up from your drains and toilet, you can be assured that the waste water is not draining properly from your home and is starting to back up. For instance, your toilet may start gurgling when your washing machine finishes its rinse cycle.
- Tree growth over your line. Tree roots can quickly clog the sewer line. If you have a tree above the line, it’s wise to have your line inspected every spring shortly after the growth season. Roots can easily penetrate older clay piping. In fact, tree roots are the number one cause of clogged drains in older homes.
- Slow drains. If your drains all of a sudden take longer than usual to empty, this can also be a sign of a sewer line clog. Something like a hair ball, feminine hygiene product or other obstruction could be plugging up the drain.

Video Camera Line Inspections
With the use of specially made waterproof cameras our team can take the guesswork out of inspections to get to the root of the problem quickly and effectively. One of our trained technicians can insert a flexible rod with the camera attached to pinpoint any potential issues, and see the condition of your sewer lines. A video camera line inspection can allow us to accurately identify corrosion, clogs, and leaks before they become bigger problems.
